Privacy and crash reports

MyTwig sends nothing about you or your work anywhere on its own.

  • your repositories’ remotes;
  • the forges you’ve signed in to;
  • avatar services (your forge, and Gravatar) unless you turn avatars off in Settings → Graph → Avatars;
  • the AI provider you chose, if any;
  • github.com, to check for updates.

Settings → Privacy lists the exact hosts, based on your settings, accounts and open repositories.

Crash reports are off until you turn them on. The first launch asks once, with the box unticked, and Settings → Privacy has the switch.

When on, a crash sends only:

  • MyTwig’s version, your OS and its version, Go’s and Git’s versions, and a random install ID;
  • the stack of the crash: function names, packages, lines and file names, with no paths from your computer;
  • the first line of the error message, with paths, URLs, emails, quoted text, hashes, tokens and long numbers masked, cut to 200 characters;
  • the names of the last ten MyTwig commands you used, like “Fetch All”, never a branch, file or anything of yours.

Only real crashes are reported, never quitting or force quitting. Settings → Privacy → View Last Report… shows exactly what is waiting to be sent, or was sent last.

Crash output is kept on your computer either way:
