Troubleshooting and feedback
“Git not found” or an old Git
Section titled ““Git not found” or an old Git”MyTwig needs Git 2.32 or later. It looks on your PATH and where Homebrew, MacPorts and the system put Git, and uses the newest. Install or update Git:
- macOS:
xcode-select --install, orbrew install git. - Windows: Git for Windows.
- Linux: your package manager, for example
sudo apt install git.
To use a specific Git, pick it in Settings → Git → Git executable. Some features need newer Git: conflict prediction and stacked rebases need 2.38.
Hooks or tools not found when opened from the Dock
Section titled “Hooks or tools not found when opened from the Dock”Apps opened from the Dock don’t get your terminal’s PATH. MyTwig reads your login shell’s PATH in the background when it starts, so hooks like git-lfs’s are found. If a hook still fails, check that the tool is on the PATH your login shell sets.
Push or fetch asks for a password again and again
Section titled “Push or fetch asks for a password again and again”Set up a credential helper, or sign in under Settings → Accounts: accounts there answer HTTPS prompts for their host. For SSH remotes, add your key to the agent in Settings → SSH.
A command failed
Section titled “A command failed”When Git says more than one line, the error has Show Output. View → Git Command Log shows every command MyTwig ran, with its output and exit status.
The app crashed
Section titled “The app crashed”Logs are in:
- macOS:
~/Library/Logs/MyTwig - Windows:
%LOCALAPPDATA%\MyTwig\Logs - Linux:
~/.local/state/mytwig
Turning on crash reports in Settings → Privacy helps get crashes fixed. See Privacy for exactly what’s sent.
Send feedback
Section titled “Send feedback”Help → Send Feedback… in the app opens a feedback form with your version and system filled in. You can also open one in the browser (中文表单).
Include the steps to reproduce, what you expected, any error text, and screenshots if you can.
